Biography
Jeetu Ahsan (Full name: Syed Ashek Ali) has established himself as a versatile actor in Bangladesh since he played the vital role in the first soap opera of the country Joar Bhata. Since then, single episode dramas, telefilms, serials, soap operas, Ahsan has ventured all in all television channels. His performance in the national award winning movie Gohin Baluchor was highly acclaimed among the audiences. Born to legendary actor of Bengali film and drama Syed Ahsan Ali, also known as Sidney, and educator Suraiya Ahsan, Jeetu Ahsan entered the showbiz industry at a relatively young age following the footsteps of his father. As a child artist he performed in ten dramas in Bangladesh Television (BTV) and one short film titled Lal Balloon. His first drama as a child artist Ekti Shetur Golpo was telecasted in Bangladesh Television in 1982. He attended Sunbeams school, St. Joseph High School, Notre Dame College and North South University in Dhaka.
In St. Joseph High School, Jeetu Ahsan was the founder of Josephite Cultural Forum (JCF) in 1993. JCF hosted many cultural activities. Ahsan performed in the first drama arranged by JCF, titled Phulki. Phulki was written by eminent writer Mamunur Rashid and directed by Azad Abul Kalam. This was Ahsan’s first step in theatre.
When he stepped into his university days at North South University, Ahsan was the president of North South University Cine and Drama Club (NSUCDC). As a member of the club, he performed in plays such as Payer awaj pawa jae, Dando, and Rokto Korobee directed by esteemed theatre personality Ataur Rahman.
Ahsan got his professional breakthrough in Abdullah Al Mamun’s first soap opera in the country Joar Bhata in the year 2000 sharing screen with big names such as Abdullah Al Mamun, Ferdousi Majumdar, Tareen , Shahiduzzaman Selim etc. Joar Bhata was telecasted on Channel I. Ahsan played an anti-hero character in Joar Bhata. Ahsan’s performance was widely appreciated and he started getting offers from big name production houses and directors such as Humayun Faridee, Afzal Hossain , Badrul Anam Saud, Suborna Mustafa, Nahid Ahmed Piyal, Mohon Khan, Akhter Ferdous Rana to name a few.
Since that seminal soap opera, Jeetu Ahsan continued to dominate the small screen with his powerful performance in different characters. So was his dominance in the characters that he portrayed, that legendary actor Humayun Faridee termed him as the best and the most talented of the contemporary actors. He ventured in various branches of character portrayal. After numerous television shows alongside famous actors such as Suborna Mustafa, Humayun Faridee, Abdullah Al Mamun, Ferdousi Majumdar, he grew up to be one of the most scintillating personalities on the television screen. He went on to work with some of the biggest directors in the country, grabbing some very noteworthy roles. From a rickshaw-puller to a comedian, from a gruesome villain to a visually impaired man, Ahsan has played an array of characters in some very popular television serials, one hour drama fictions and telefilms, such as “Shaola”, “Jowar Bhata”, “Gohiney”, “Elebele”, “Tobuo Protikkha”, “Andhokarer Biruddhe”, “Nouka Dubi” and many more.
He received RTV STAR AWARD as Best Actor for his role in the drama serial Mayar Khela. After starring in countless ventures on the small screen, Ahsan made his debut on the silver screen with the film Gohin Baluchor directed by Badrul Anam Soud in 2017. He acted in a pivotal character of the national award winner movie Gohin Baluchor. Ahsan played the crucial antagonist role in the movie and his performance was highly acclaimed among the viewers. Apart from Bangladesh, the movie was also released in the USA and Canada. The film was highly appreciated among the Bengali communities abroad.
Till date, Ahsan continues his work relentlessly. Passion of his childhood, profession as an adult, the art of acting runs in his blood. Starting from 1982 as a five year old child till today in show business, Ahsan shows no signs of slowing down !!!
